crystal care; how to cleanse your crystals

crystals naturally pick up energy from the environments they live in, you can see when a crystal needs cleansing as it may loose its sparkle, brightness or even colour, some may feel sticky to touch. do not be worried whether your crystal holds innate 'good' or 'bad' energy; they have only energy; energy is simply energy; and by cleansing you help them release energy build up, preparing them for healing work and your personal intentions. how you choose to cleanse is personal and up to you, everyone has their own way and always research yourself.

cleansing methods;

*please always check if your crystal is water-soluble

- running water; hold your crystal under running water for a few minutes until you feel it is ready

- sunlight; leave your crystal in sunlight (outside or by a window) just not for longer than about 15-20mins as can dull the colour and quartz especially can focus the suns ray and may become a fire risk!

- moonlight; leave your crystals in moonlight (outside or window) over night especially in the energies of a new or full moon

- incense / smoke; let frankincense, sandalwood or dragons blood (your fav scent also) smoke waft over your crystals with the intent and focus of cleansing, also if smudging is part of your culture or native then that can be a practice to use in cleansing rituals

- earth; bury your crystals in the earth or plant pot and leave it for a moon cycle, so bury it when the moon is full and unearth it on a new moon. also if you feel as if you're finished with a crystal and its served the purpose you got it for then burying it and returning it to the earth is the best way to say goodbye and dispose

- crystal cleansing; place your crystal on a quartz or amethyst cluster, or inside a geode to cleanse; also placing them on top of selenite (satin spar) or around or using a selenite wand to direct the intention of cleansing

- sound; ringing a bell, clapping your hands, drumming or using a singing bowl clears crystals of unwanted vibrations

- breath or meditation; exposing your crystal to your breath or holding it while meditating and envision a white light around the crystal and you

how to work with crystals; setting intentions

step one: pick a crystal you are drawn to or one you know has the properties you want to work with

step two: place your crystal in your hands and take 3 deep breaths; in for 4, out for 8, start to feel the energy, now you can decide to speak your intention. into the crystal or put it on a piece of paper draw a circle around it and like a spider diagram write off your intentions, or just meditate and feel your intentions going into the crystal, continue until you feel the intention is set

step three: now to work with the crystal and your intentions, you may choose to now keep your crystal with you to feel it’s properties. vibrations and your intentions working, so can carry it on you in a pocket or bag etc, sleep with it under your pillow, have it by your in your most used environments, or wear it as jewellery

step four: the final step, expressing gratitude for the crystals workings, this can be done by speaking to the crystal again and saying words of thanks for all it does and will bring you, writing down some statements of gratitude or simply stating them out loud before sleeping
